A dandelion painting for the big wishers out there.
My original encaustic wax painting, "Dandelion Breeze" features dandelions in different growth stages swaying in a sunset breeze.
This painting is created with hot beeswax and resin, pigmented with oil paints resin, alcohol inks, pan pastels, and oil sticks, all fused together with a butane torch in many different thin layers. It's on birchwood cradle board 30 x 24 x 2 inches.
If you aren't familiar with encaustic wax, you're in for a textural treat. Encaustics paintings are are among the oldest and most archival art-forms. Part painting and part sculpture this work of art has a shiny waxy sheen and layers of depth you'll want to touch.
Since the sides are 2 inches deep, you can hang the piece on the wall "as is". Or you can get a floating frame to go around the painting, which would look lovely. You don't need to use glass with encaustics, just an open frame. You don't want to cover up the fabulous shiny wax surface with glass. Best to let it breathe.
I hope you enjoy my work as much as I enjoyed creating it. Thank you for supporting my work!
