How Are These Tiles made?

Check out the last 2 images in this listing. I create them by collecting clematis blossoms from my mother's garden. Then I pressed the flowers between parchment paper and heavy books for several weeks. Next I scanned in the best pressings to create a digital image of the flowers on my computer. Then I print the floral image out on ceramic decal, meaning the ink is actually ceramic glaze. The decal gets applied to the tiles and then in goes into the kiln and heated to 2100 degrees, creating the permanent design in the tile glaze.

Curious how I make these tiles?

Check out the last 2 images in this listing. First it starts in my Mother's garden. I collect the flowers that I love most. Then I press them between wax paper and heavy books for several weeks. Next I scan in the best pressing to create a digital image for my computer, then print out ceramic decals. The decals are printed with ceramic glaze, rather than inks. This allows me to apply to decals to the ceramic tiles, then kiln-fire them to 2100 degrees, sealing the design into the ceramic tile glaze for a permanent design. They are suitable for everything from shower floors to kitchen backsplashes and are also UV light resistant, so you can decorate your patio and pool with these! Anywhere you need waterproof, washable art, these tiles are perfect for that. Or frame them in 6" x 6" floating frames for a gorgeous wall display.

The last night of a Smoky Mountain vacation, the stars were out in a clear sky and there was a lightning storm on the other side of Mt. LeConte. Fog was rising up from the valleys, frogs and crickets were creating a chorus, and fireflies were everywhere. This painting is my attempt at capturing some of that mountain magic.
