I painted this outside in the chilly night, behind my house, in western North Carolina. The glowing giant December "Cold Moon," Super Moon called to me louder than my freezing fingers.

An original encaustic wax painting of a brilliant blue cornflower growing in my backyard. Painted on an 11 x 14 inch Ampersand Claybord Panel that’s 1.5 inches deep.

Buyer will need to have this painting framed. It is not framed, and encaustic paintings really do need a frame to protect them in case the painting falls off the wall. You don’t want glass on the front of the frame, you want a “floating frame”, so that no part of the frame touches the face or sides the painting. It’s painted out of beeswax + damar resin. Please familiarize yourself with encaustic paintings of you plan to order this. They are like little art pets and require attention.
